Failure to comply with traffic regulations, together with low driving culture, require the use of trafficudcalming measures that physically prevent drivers from exceeding the speed limit, by which the level ofudtraffic safety and living conditions for residents are improved. The purpose of this thesis is touddetermine the effectiveness of individual traffic calming measure, implemented on the national roadudnetwork, as well as their impact on driver behavior, especially driving speed. The concept of trafficudcalming is introduced together with the list of all existing and possible traffic calming measures on theudpublic roads of the Republic of Slovenia. A selection of ten traffic calming measures, which are shownudin a comparative analysis, is described in more detail. Measuring equipment which was used, as welludas the process of measuring and the results of similar studies from other countries are also displayed.udThe results of measuring are compared between themselves according to the three main parameters:udaverage driving speed, percentage of speed violators and the quantity of speed excess. In theudconclusion, the performance index is introduced, which combines all of the three parameters in audsingle numerical assessment of each traffic calming measure’s performance.
