A suggestion of the arrangement of the river Sava’s left bank in the area of Vrbina at the planned accumulation lake of the hydro power plant Brežice

In the graduation thesis I represent a suggestion to wholesome arrangement of the area near the planned accumulation lake of the hydropower station Brežice. Primary purpose is to build a gravel pit for ensuring covering the deficit of the material for hydro power plants construction, dams and dykes in particular, at the lower stream of the Sava river. The gravel grave will be used as additional accumulation by arranging it and filling it with water improving its installation to the area. The additional accumulation can be used also for tourist- recreational purposes, building a kayak water course, arrangement of the forest peninsula, walking paths, marshes and similar. The present work includes also appreciation of the volumes of materials from gravel pit, water regime in the additional accumulation for different extreme years and different hydraulic solutions of regulation of flows with calculations. On the other side there is also a problem of the water organisms’ migrations after the hydro power plants at the lower stream of Sava are constructed. The solution would be fish-ways, which do not function as they should in Slovenia as they represent a waste of energy for hydro power plants. The alternative solution of the fish-way in the concept of the whole arrangement of the area near the accumulation of the hydropower plant Brežice is presented including the power saving project.
