This paper presented a procedure for the assessment of wave-induced pore-pressure generation based on the energy-based model. In the present model, the Hardin-Drnevich model was adopted to represent the non-linearity and hysteresis loop of stress-strain relationship of sandy seabed under cyclic wave actions. By calculating the work of the damping force, the energy dissipated per unit volume of soil is determined and then treated as the source term for the buildup of porepressure in the seabed. Compared with traditional stress-based model, the energy-based model is more suitable for the prediction of residual pore-pressure under irregular cyclic loadings. The reliability of the proposed model was finally verified through the comparisons with previous experimental results.
