摘要

A mangement strategy reduced truck movements at night on an urban arterialroadway. Community response to noise was measured using a panel of residents,surveyed five times over the two years of the study. Noise monitoring showed nochange in Leq or Lnight levels, but the panel did report significant benefits in terms ofreductions in noise annoyance and reduction in activity interferences. The conclusionwas that measureable changes in the number of articulated truck movements at nightlead to reduction in the number of noise events at night and to significantimprovements in the community’s road traffic noise response. Relatively smallchanges in the number of noise events in the road traffic noise stream have an effecton annoyance responses beyond their contribution to the levels of the energy-basedindicators
