EVI MAULIDAH SOFIANIudThe students in MANU Putra Buntet Pesantren Cirebon often face someuddifficulties in understanding narrative text especially at 11th year. their confusion inudreading text which is appropriate and meaning the words. However, Majority of themudbring electronic dictionary. The writer gives another way to teach Narrative text withudusing electronic dictionary. To analyze if there is positive and significant correlationudbetween the students’ habit in using electronic dictionary and their ability inudunderstanding Narrative text.udAccording to James Ronald (2008) stated that The pocket electronicuddictionary has the potential to be a powerful language learning tool. At the same time,udit may be seen as an obstacle to communication, a waste of classroom time, and audsource of conflict between foreign-language learners and the teachers. It means that itudwill give some benefits both for the teacher and the students along the learningudprocess, while for the students, they can receive the teacher’s explanation aboutudnarrative text easily, interesting and enjoyable to follow the learning process. So theyudcan improve their capability in English and have the high causality to learn muchudabout English.udThe method of this research is quantitative research. The population is 40udstudents. the sample is 15 students. In collecting data are observation, interview andudtest. Test instrument are validity, reliability, the capacity of distinctive feature, anduddifficult index. In technique analysis is product moment.udIn observation, the result is good, writer make criteria for each statement inudobservation, the score are from 5 until 1. In interview, the result is that there is someudproblems English teacher in teaching process and headmaster can’t give the goodudfacilities for learning and teaching process. In test, the result is good.udThe conclusion of this research is the correlation between the students’ habitudin using electronic dictionary and their ability in understanding narrative text at theud11th year students of MANU Putra Buntet Pesantren Cirebon is effective. Theudaverage of the students’ habit in using electronic dictionary is 6.9 it can be roundedudinto 7. The average of the students’ understanding narrative text by using electronicuddictionary is 259:40 = 6.47 The result of the correlation between variable X andudvariable Y is 0.80 It is in category high correlation.udTHE CORRELATION BETWEEN THEudSTUDENTS’ HABIT IN USING ELECTRONICudDICTIONARY AND THEIR ABILITY INudUNDERSTANDING NARRATIVE TEXT AT THEud11TH YEAR STUDENTS OF MANU Putra BuntetudPesantren Cirebon.
