Leny Sri Wahyuni: AN ANALYSIS OF APPLICATION TOTAL PHYSICALudRESPONSE (TPR) BY USING DEMONSTRATIVE SONGS AS AudMETHOD OF TEACHING TO ENRICH ENGLISH VOCABULARYudAT THE FIRST GRADE STUDENTS OF MTs MA’ARIFudCIKEDUNG.ud"Babies don't learn by memorizing lists; why should children or adults?"udTo be able to learn English language as second language, we can apply learningudsystem of baby in learning their mother tongue (first language). In same line withudHarrell and Jordan (2004: 65), TPR is an approach to second language acquisitionudbased on first language acquisition research. In first language acquisition, childrenudlisten and acquire receive language before attempt to speak, they developudunderstanding through moving their bodies, and they are not forced to speak untiludthey are ready.udIn the fact, students still difficult in remembering of vocabulary, because of thisudproblem are the students’ lack in English vocabulary. It is known that vocabulary isudvery important in learning language, especially English. It means that is neededudserious process in teaching and learning English vocabulary. For this reason, teacherudshould pay more attention to teach vocabulary. Vocabulary should not rely on theudspoken words only; teacher should tries to give as clearly as possible the explanationudof the meaning of the words being taught by showing picture, dramatizing,uddemonstrating, illustrating, paraphrasing, or giving the similarity with their nativeudlanguage.udThe aims of the research are to know the students’ difficulty in remembering ofudvocabulary, to know the students are able in enriching of English vocabulary, toudknow TPR by using demonstrative songs becomes an effective method of teaching toudenrich English vocabulary.udThe approach of the research in this thesis taken by the writer is a qualitativeudapproach. The type of qualitative research the writer had chosen basic interpretativeudstudies.udThe result of this research showed that the application of TPR method is veryudeffective and assist in course of students’ understanding, because it can stimulateudphysical censor of student to active movement, so that they do not feel bored inudstudying English who had hard assumed. Using of demonstrative songs in enrichingudof vocabulary is good, because more interactive so that students can sing at the sameudtime learn and they can apply it anywhere and anytime. The application of TPR byudusing demonstrative songs as an effective method to enrich English vocabulary, it isudproved the students are interested and enthusiast when the teacher uses this method toudenrich their vocabulary. So, the teacher is suggested to use this method in teachingudlearning process, especially in vocabulary learning.
