摘要

Social Geography focuses on the interactions of social and spatial relations and accords high priority to social action and regionalized systems. This permitted the emergence of new issues and methods useful for spatial planning and territorial development. The increasingly recurrent use of the concept of elite in the contemporary geographic analysis falls in that context. It refers to a localized social entity, occupying apical positions within a social category or a given territory and with intentional and strategic capabilities to influence other individuals or groups of individuals. It therefore appears as an epistemological and methodological tool of social geography permitting to account for social and spatial inequalities within specific territory.
