摘要

Recent progress has been truly dramatic in the areas of basic research and applied development in the life sciences employing genetic recombination technology. Biological research has entered a new area through research and development on several powerful techniques to isolate, amplify, modify, and analyze base sequences of DNA. In particular, the analysis of human DNA has been incorporated into DNA diagnosis to investigate the etiology of various disease conditions; and it has advanced even to the stage of applying gene therapy. The analysis of polymorphism of human DNA advanced from the initial approaches in which polymorphism was analyzed in tandem repetitive sequences, using minisatellites composed of 50 to 60 repeat sequences of bases (such as those used in DNA fingerprinting) for repetitive units, to the applied sciences where microsatellites are commercially available to facilitate the application of these techniques. DNA polymorphism is widely used in areas such as criminal investigation, paternity identification, and linkage studies on a wide variety of genes. The purpose of this report is to introduce DNA identification with special reference to an example of DNA isolation using the latest gene analyzing equipment, the ABI PRISM 310 Genetic Analyzer.
