Present Status of Endoscopic Treatment for Gastroenterological Diseases(The forefront of scientific technique and surgical treatment)

Endoscopic treatment for the gastroenterological diseases has much developed and many diseases which had been operated upon have been able to be treated without conventional surgical procedures, because of recent advances in the scientific technology and electronics. More than 600 cases of gastrointestinal polyps have been removed by polypectomy in a year and the bleeding from the gastrointestinal tract has been satisfactorily eliminated with the endoscopic hemostasis. Treatment of the esophageal varices which had been much difficult even in the surgery, has become also possible with an endoscopic injection sclerotherapy, an endoscopic variceal ligation and their combination therapy. Endoscopic treatment for early cancer of the gastrointestinal tract had been performed on 1803 cases and in 672 cases of them, endoscopic mucosal resection had been carried out with an excellent result. The endoscopic treatment would further develop with an application of the new advanced science and electronics in the near future.
