摘要

Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is amajor complication linked with the metabolic syndromeassociated with dyslipidemia, inflammation, and oxidativestress. Impact of type 2 diabetes with hyperlipidemia inNAFLD has to be established, as well as the utility ofcommonly prescribed anti-diabetic and lipid-loweringagents in improving liver injury markers. Genetic type 2diabetic Goto–Kakizaki rats were fed with a high-fat diet totest hepatic effects of type 2 diabetes with hyperlipidemiaand the effect of atorvastatin and insulin, individually andin combination, in systemic and hepatic inflammatory andoxidative stress markers. High-fat diet aggravated fastingglycemia, systemic and liver lipids, and inflammatory andoxidative stress markers. Individual treatments improvedglycemic and lipid profiles, but failed to improve inflammatorymarkers, whereas insulin was able to reduce liveroxidative stress parameters. Combination of insulin andatorvastatin further improved glycemic and lipid profilesand decreased circulating C-reactive protein levels and liverinflammatory and oxidative stress markers. Insulin andatorvastatin combination leads to better glycaemic and lipidprofiles and to better protection against liver inflammationand oxidative stress, giving a superior level of liverprotection in type 2 diabetic with hyperlipidemia.
