The second part of “Observation of nature” in Hegel’s “Phenomenology of Mind” is more difficult. However, we can interpret it in the relation with the actual problems of the biology of his time. In my opinion, it is dedicated to the critical exposition of the unphilosophical theories in the biology and natural philosophy of his contemporaries, i.e. the environment theory (die Umweltlehre), teleology or the natural theology which postulated for the intellectual agency out of the world, the vitalist theory of the organic life and the natural philosophy of his friend Schelling. In this paticular part of Hegel’s first Hauptwerk the positive character of his dialectic is obvious. Acording to Hegel, each types of consciousness could not reach the true concept of the organic world. Schelling, too, misunderstood the essence of organism in his attempt to reduce the forms of the animal to the number and mathematical series, so that he infused a miserable formalism and confusions in the natural science and medicin of the early 19th century germany
