The measurments of the elastic and plastic behaviors of the thin-walled cylinders of mild steel at pressure test when internal water froze were carried、and yield points at pressure test were compared with those at tension test and torsion test. The results are summerized as follows : 1.The elastic and plastic behaviors of the specimen when internal water froze were the same as hydraulic internal pressure subjected to. 2. There existed fine agreement between a half tensile stress strength on yield point at tension test of the thin-walled sylinders and the shear strength introduced from equation (3) at internal pressure test and the shear strength at torsion test. 3.The thin-walled cylinders must be used when the shear strength was found by tension test because the shear yield strength and other mechanical characteristics were affected by the thickness of cylinders. 4.The stress-strain diagram and yield points of the thin-walled cylinders depended on the strain rate at tension test.
