Pd.udKeywords: Speaking, Native, Students’ motivationudIn Indonesia, the teaching of English is important to familiarize anduddevelop students skill in order they can use it in daily communication. Although itudis hard to achieve success of EFL instruction, the government has been doing audnetworking with other countries. One of the influence of the networking is theudpresent of native speakers who devote their time to some schools in Indonesia.udNative speakers are effected to be able to help student master English. As it isudtheir mother tongue, at least they are capable in providing learning atmosphereudand imparting their language knowledge.udThe problems of this research were (1) How does the native teacherudfacilitate and motivate the students in learning speaking at MTsN Ngantru ? (2)udWhat are the students’ responses toward the native speakers’ activities inudfacilitating their speaking learning at MTsN Ngantru?udThe study employed a descriptive study with qualitative approach. Theudsubjects of the study was English native teacher at MTsN Ngantru. Meanwhile,udthe data of the study were taken from the native English teacher, the Englishudteacher, and the students.. To collect the needed data, two research instrumentsudwere used by applying the following two methods: conducting in-depth interviewudand observation. Finally, in analyzing the collected data, the steps of qualitativeuddata analysis proposed by Miles and Huberman (1984) and Patton (2002)udcovering data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing/verification wereudused.udFrom the implementation of effective instruction, related to the nativeudteacher’s way to facilitate and motivate the students in learning speaking at MTsNudNgantru, the subject conducted the following activities: (a) Stimulating theudstudents to speak, (b) Giving positive feedback, (c) Applying code mixing, (d)udMaking study club, (e) Giving a model pronunciation, (f) Guiding the students’ toudproduce language, (g) Applying a game, (h) Applying role play and dialogue, (i)udGrouping the students and giving quiz, (j) Doing reflection with yoga dance.udMeanwhile, related to the students’ responses toward the native speakers’udactivities in facilitating their speaking learning, the learners feel fun and theyudenjoy learning English especially in speaking. Practically, the ways how theudnative speaker facilitates and motivates the students are contributive in terms of :ud(a) the students are able to pronounce daily words correctly, (b) through game, theudstudents feel fun and relax to study, (c) the students get language inputs,udespecially vocabulary, (d) the students’ selve-confident increase, (e) the studentsudcan produce language.
