Vocabulary is the set of word that are known to its meaning and can be use by someone in a language. Teaching vocabulary is one of the basic elements in achieving all four language skills, they are speaking, writing, listening and reading. The more vocabulary that student’s have, the easier for them to develop their skill. Language teaching, especially English, will be better if it is started from children. Teaching English must use the appropriate media to make students interest in study English. One of the media is word and picture on the wall. Word and picture on the wall is a word with the picture that are displayed on the wall, bulletin board, chalkboard, or whiteboard in a classroom. It is often used in the elementary grades for multiple purposes, and research has demonstrated the effectiveness of this tool. This study examines use word and Picture on The Wall media to improve student’s vocabulary at sixth grade of SDN 01 Sukoanyar, Kesamben Blitar.udThe formulation of research problem in this study are (1) How does word and picture on the wall improve student’s vocabulary mastery at sixth grade of SDN 01 Sukoanyar? (2) How is the improvement of student’s vocabulary mastery at sixth grade of SDN 01 Sukoanyar after being taught by using word and picture on the wall?udThe purpose of this study were to (1) know how word and picture on the wall improve student’s vocabulary mastery at sixth grade of SDN 01 Sukoanyar. (2) find out the improvement of student’s vocabulary mastery at sixth grade of SDN 01 Sukoanyar after being taught by using word and picture on the wall.udThe research design of this this study was classroom action research (CAR) which conducted at SDN 01 Sukoanyar. The model classroom action research was adapted from Kemmis and Taggart which covered four step, they are planning, implementing, observing and reflecting. The population of this study was all the student’s of sixth grade at SDN 01 Sukoanyar Kesamben Blitar consist of ten students. The research instrument was test. udIn this study the researcher use two cycle, every cycle consists of two meeting. First meeting to implementation the media and second meeting to conduct test. The criteria of success in this study were if 80% from the students could got score 70 or more. From the data this study, the result show that student’s vocabulary can improved. It can seen from the result of the test in preliminary observation the average is 60.5 and the percentage of success is 40%. In cycle 1 the average is 71.5 and the percentage of success is 60%. In cycle 2 the average is 82 and the precentage of success is 90%. In other words, word and picture on the wall can be used as an alternative media to improve student’s vocabulary mastery at sixth grade of SDN 01 Sukoanyar Kesamben Blitar.
