Speaking is one of the keys in English communication. There are many ways can be implemented for teaching speaking but teachers have to choose an appropriate way to be applied. One of the appropriate ways in teaching vocabulary is Practice Rehearsal Pairs.udThe formulation of the research problems, are: 1) How is the students’ speaking achievement before being taught by using Practice Rehearsal Pairs? 2) How is the students’ speaking achievement after being taught by using Practice Rehearsal Pairs? 3) Is there any significant different in Student’ Speaking achievement before and after being taught by using Practice Rehearsal Pairs?udThe objectives of the research are: 1) To know the students’ speaking achievement before being taught by using Practice Rehearsal Pairs. 2) To know the students’ speaking achievement after being taught by using Practice Rehearsal Pairs. 3) To know whether there is significance difference in students’ speaking achievement using “Practice Rehearsal Pairs”udThis research uses pre - experimental design with quantitative approach. The type of experimental design which is used in this research is pre-experimental in the form one-group pre-test and post-test. The population of this research is all students of first grade of MAN 2 Tulungagung. The sample is X MIA 4 class which consists of 44 students. In this research, researcher uses test (pre-test and post-test) as an instrument. The data analysis uses T-test formula and process by using SPSS 16 program.ududThe result of administering test shows that the students’ mean score of speaking achievement before being taught by using Practice Rehearsal Pairs is 67.13, while the students’ mean score of speaking achievement after being taught by using Practice Rehearsal Pairs is 83.98. The result of T-score is 19.302 whereas the result of T-table with the significant level 5% is 2.015. Hence, the result of T-score is higher than the result of T-table. It means that hypothesis alternative (H1) which states there is significant difference between students’ score before and after being taught by using Practice Rehearsal Pairs is accepted. While, the null hypothesis (H0) which states there is no significant difference between students’ score before and after being taught by using Practice Rehearsal Pairs is rejected. It can be concluded that Practice Rehearsal Pairs can increase the students’ score on vocabulary and it is effective to be used as a technique in teaching speaking.
