It can be seen that English is given a place as important subject in education. Therefore, certain institutions under Kemenag such as islamic elementary school (MI), islamic junior high school (MTsN), and islamic senior high school (MA) rarely invite native English teachers. They are commonly hired by senior high school or university level but the researcher found that one of the schools in Wonodadi Blitar which hires some native English teachers. The phenomenon obtained from preliminary study done by having a bit interview to some students in MTsN Kunir Wonodadai Blitar, they are usually get more enjoyed and more enthusiastic when they are taught by native English teacher than nonnative English teachers.There are some hidden ideas such as why the students prefer native teachers to non native teachers to teach them in teaching English, how native English teacher can makes the students get more enjoyed and enthusiastic, and what the differences between native and nonnative English teacher in teaching English.Those opinion of the researcher can be answered scientificly if the researcher doing the research scientificly too. So, this is interesting to be investigates. ududThe formulation of the problem in this research are: 1) How is students’perception toward native and nonnative English teacher in teaching English?The purpose of this research are: 1) to describes how is students’ perception toward native and nonnative English teacher in teaching English.ududIn conducting this research, researchers used descriptive qualitative method to collect and analyze data. The subjects of this study were students of eight grade in excellent class. Instruments used in this study include guided interview and questionnaire. Data analysis using qualitative analysis, data reduction, data presentation, coding, and drawing conclution ududResearcher found that teaching English covered three aspect in teaching English. They are; aspect of learning styles, aspect of teaching style, and aspect of classroom techniques. Based on students percetion toward native English teacher in aspect learning style are students think that native English teacher as foreign teacher who can speak English well than nonnative English teacher. It makes the students can improve their speaking skill. Makes the students loves with English lesson and makes students practice to speak by using English at home Meanwhile, perception toward nonnative are the student can’t improve their speaking. Because, there is no checking of pronounciation. Then, students’perception toward native and nonnative English teacher based on teaching styles .the students think that teaching styles of native more enyoyed and makes the students enthusiastic in teaching and learning. Because, she was bring laptop or sound of music as teaching media. it is different with nonnative teacher that just using books as teaching media. The last are students’perception toward native and nonnative English teacher based on classroom technique. The students stated that classroom technique of native English teacher more easy and simple. She was gives dollar as reward. It is diffrent when nonnative teacher that teachnique is bored and there is no reward in teaching and learing activities.
