Implementation of Reconfigurable Manufacturing Systems, the Case of The LEGO Group

摘要

Turbulent market under global competition forced manufacturers to search for new manufacturing concepts to stay competitive. How to consider a new manufacturing system becomes an important issue. The objective of this paper is to examine the most suitable areas for the implementation of reconfigurable manufacturing systems (RMS). A literature review is made to describe the advantages and core characteristics of RMS. Based on the theory, a conceptual model is developed to analyze where RMS would be most suitable and have most benefits in The LEGO Group.
