It is essential to develop methodology for collection ofudinnovation data in the public sector. It pertainsudalso to monitoring the outputs and outcomes of manudagerial innovations. As the methodology must beudsensitive for public subsector specificity, this paperudis focused on public cultural institutions. Amongudseveral conceptual frameworks of effectivenessudthe accountability-based effectiveness has beenudrecognized as the most adequate to underlie investigating managerial innovation outcomes in publicudcultural institutions.udThe managerial innovation outcomes perceived by tudhe interviewed managers of Polish public culturaludinstitutions embraced three dimensions of accountudability-based effectiveness. This is accountability forudself-development of theudinstitution; developmentudof institution’s staff; and acting on the sake of theudaudience (customers) and local community. Manyudother dimensions were omitted. Hence, theudtriangulation of methods is highly recommended, asudthe interview, even in-depth one, is insufficient
