摘要

An experimental study of "intravenous hemodialysis" was performed for the trial of ntracorporeal artificial kidney, and the following results were obtained. 1. The name "intravenous hemodialysis" was given to the experimental dialysis method utilizing a cellophane tube retained in the caval vein. 2. Very little interfering effect to the circulatory system was observed during the intravenous hemodialysis. And its dialyzing efficiency was estimated to be somewhat lower than peritoneal dialysis. 3. Dogs were able to tolerate for a long time dialysis of 12 hours, and the dialyzing tube could be retained in the caval vein of dogs for a long period of times, up to 3 or 4 months. 4. The results of in vitro experiments indicated that sufiicient amount of urea nitrogen was removed by intravenous hemodialysis as well as in vivo experiments, but removal of creatinine was not sufficient. 5. Although there are many problems to be solved concerning the development of intracorporeal implantable artificial kidney, it was considered that intravenous hemodialysis was one of the methods of them.
