AN EVALUATION OF MANNMTOL(FRUCTON M3 OR MANITON S) INFUSION THERAPY IN UROLOGY

In order to prevent renal damages from surgery and anesthesia, Fructon M3 or Maniton S was intravenously administered to 40 patients admitted to the Department of Urology, Kyoto Prefectural University of Medicine. The results are as follows; 1) An evident diuresis appeared in almost all the cases after the intravenous administration of Fructon M3 or Maniton S. 2) The serum levels of BUN, creatinine, sodium, potassium and chloride were not changed after the administration. 3) Renal function measured by PSP test showed no change or slight improvement after the administration in all the cases except for several cases on which partial nephrectomy or unilateral nephrectomy was carried out. 4) In some cases, slight temporary dehydration and/or hypertension occurred after the administration.No serious' side effect was observed.
