STUDIES ON THE ABSORPTION OF ANTICANCEROUS AGENTS THROUGH THE URINARY BLADDER -BASIS OF THE INSTILLATION THERAPY- 1. ABSORPTION OF 5-FU,MMC,BLM AND ADM THROUGH THE URINARY BLADDER

A study was made regarding the absorption of anticancerous agents-5 fluorouracil, mitomycin C, bleomycin and adriamycin-through the bladder. The agent was instiiied in the bladder of rats in which ureterostomy was performed in advance, over three hours period. The blood concentrations of all drugs three hours after the instillation were trace, but the urinary recoveries of 5 fluorouracil and adriamycin were 0.15% and 0.46% respectively. Further examinations were made on 5 fluorouracil and adriamycin. The drug was instilled in the bladder of rats with urinary and biliary diversion. The urine and bile were collected every 3 hours for the next 12 hours. The recovery rate of 5 fluorouracil into the urine was 0.08% and the rate of it into the bile was O. The rates of adriamycin into the urine and bile were 1.92 % and 4.14%. Thus, it was proved that 5 fluorouracil and adriamycin were absorbed from the bladder and ditributed to the whole body.
