SIMULATIONS DES GRANDES ÉCHELLES DE HAUTE PRÉCISION D'ÉCOULEMENTS AUTOUR DE GEOMETRIES COMPLEXES : APPLICATION A UN MODELE DE VEHICULE AUTOMOBILE
In this study, we present High-order Large Eddy Simulation (LES) of high Reynolds number turbulent ows over complex geometries. The Spectral Vanishing Viscosity technique (SVV) allows taking into account the energetic transferts to unresolved scales preserving the spec-tral accuracy of the approximation. A near wall correction of the model has been developed allowing a more accurate estimation of the complex energetic phenomena developing in the boundary layers. This local treatment is validated on the well documented test case of the fl ow over the square cylinder at Reynolds 21400. Finally, the SVV-LES methodology is extended to the more complex flow over a simpli ed reference car model, the Ahmed body, at Reynolds 8322 and 768000. The results show an accurate description of the vortical structures developing in the wake. The comparisons of the turbulence statistics are in good agreement with the experiments of reference. A more frequent use of this LES methodology can be consequently hopped for these kind of industrial flows.
