Les gravures rupestres de bœufs à bosse de l'Aïr (Niger) et de l'Adrar des Iforas (Mali)

Ten rock engravings of oxen with hump have recently been discovered in the regions of Air (Niger) and of Adrar des Iforas (Mali). Four of them are integrated in compositions developing themes characteristics of the IIe millennium bc. Their achievement is two thousand years older than the date advanced up here for the introduction of the cattle with hump in West Africa. These engravings provide an additional evidence in favor of long-distance relationships to which amounted, at least occasionally, between the peoples of the Sahara and those of the eastern basin of the Mediterranean during the Bronze Age.
