We propose channel estimation algorithms and pilotudsignal optimization for the universal filtered multi-carrierud(UFMC) system based on the comb-type pilot pattern. Byudconsidering the least square linear interpolation (LSLI), discreteudFourier transform (DFT), minimum mean square error (MMSE)udand relaxed MMSE (RMMSE) channel estimators, we formulateudthe pilot signals optimization problem by minimizing the estimationudMSE subject to the power constraint on pilot tones. Theudclosed-form optimal solutions and minimum MSE are derivedudfor LSLI, DFT, MMSE and RMMSE estimators.
