Most data today is being read from meters manually. This can be very time consuming and expensive and that is why Iskraemeco d. d. developed a system for remote automated meter reading and parameterization. This system is called SEP2W System and beside just collecting, it also enables saving and analysis of the data, it generates reports and fires alarms in case of failures in the power grid. It offers also many other valuable features and promises savings in price and time when collecting meter information.udAnother new and promising technology is server virtualization. It offers savings in hardware resources due to server consolidation, it enables fast disaster recovery and easy resource balancing.udMy graduation thesis is aimed at studying different ways of virtualization and trying to find out its advantages and weaknesses. More attention is given to Microsoft Hyper-V and VMware ESX virtualization platforms.udThe goal is to observe the behavior of the SEP2W System on a virtualized server and to find the most optimal configuration of the SEP2W System. For that I was using performance counters of both virtualization platforms Microsoft Hyper-V and VMware ESX. On the basis of better performance and user friendliness, the better virtualization system came on top and will be used as a new virtualization platform on a server in software test laboratory of Iskraemeco d. d.udud
