A prototype of a low cost time attendance system using NFC technology on Android mobile devices

Modern mobile devices comprise many new technologies, including NFC. This thesis focuses on the development of an employee time and attendance system using NFC technology. The main part consists of a mobile application running on the Android platform. A device with this application can be used as a mobile terminal for time and attendance verification. It uses NFC tags and NFC enabled mobile devices for employee identification. Management and monitoring are available through a web interface integrated in the Android application. For synchronization and backup a web server is used. The main objective was to implement a low cost time and attendance system which would work on a single device.
