This thesis had its origin in a study of the prevention and treatment of thoracic trauma mad.e in a clinic where thoracic surgery in the widest sense is practised. On the one hand rare types of injury lent themselves for discussion and on the other hand we wanted to examine the therapeutic measures taken and ask ourselves in how far these are still susceptible of improvement.
