A detection and monitoring experiment was conducted at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona using Light-Emitting Diode (LED) lighted yellow sticky traps to capture Diaphorina citri, Asian Citrus Psyllid (ACP), from April 16th to May 7th, 2014. Each trap was equipped with one LED on one side while the other side was unlit. Traps were collected twice daily, once in the morning and evening. A total of fifty-four ACP were caught throughout the experiment. Twelve of the ACP were caught on the illuminated side at night, while only six ACP were caught on the unlit side. The data shows a preferential behavior of ACP towards light. Results from this field study may aid in future ACP trap design.
