This research aimed to find out the implementation of clustering technique to improve the students’ ability in writing descriptive text. The subject of this research was the first year students of SMA Cerdas Murni Tembung. They were 32 students . The object of this research was to improve the students’ ability in writing descriptive text by using clustering technique. udThe method used in the research was Classroom Action Research (CAR) method in which to identify and to solve the problem on the students’ ability in writing descriptive text. The technique for data analyzing were the qualitative and quantitative data. The qualitative data were taken from observation, questionnaire, and interview. The quantitative data were taken from pre-test and post-test.udThe researcher was conducted in one class with 32 samples. It was accomplished in two cycles . Each cycle consist of four steps of action research (planning, action, observation, and reflection). The first cycle was conducted in two meetings . The second cycle conducted in two meetings. The test was given to the students in form of pre test, post test in first cycle, and the post test in the second cycle.udBased on the data analysis, the result of data analysis showed that the students’ average score was 56,71. It is gained from the pre-test result, there were only 2 or 6,25% students who passed the Minimim Mastery criterion-Kriteria Ketuntasa Minimum. The the result of post-test in cycle 1, there were 6 or 18,75% students who passed KKM considering their mean score of test was 62,34. The result of post-test in cycle 2, there were 29 or 91% students who passed the KKM in which their mean was 79,90. It means that the students’ ability in writing descriptive text is significance increasing. It can be concluded that the implementation of clustering technique can improve the students’ ability in writing descriptive text.
