This study was conducted at the Laboratory of Plant Pests and Diseases, Faculty of Agriculture,udHaluoleo University Kendari, Southeast Sulawesi, from November 2010 to January 2011. The objective of thisudexperiment was to detect the presence of cucumber mosaic virus (CMV) and tobacco mosaic virus (TMV) onudpepper in Southeast Sulawesi by using an ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) technique. A surveyudwas conducted to collect chili leaf samples in several locations in the Province of Southeast Sulawesi. Our resutsudshowed that all leaf samples collected from Kolaka Distict, Duriasi and Lambuya Villages of Konawe District,udas well as Kendari City were CMV-infected. Whereas leaf samples collected from North Kolaka and SouthudKonawe Districts were positively infected by CMV with infection levels of 77 and 67%, respectively. Samplesudfrom North Kolaka District, South Konawe District, and Durasi Village of Konawe District were infected byudTMV with percentages of infection of 84,6, 83,3, 17,2 and 87,5, respectively, while chili leaf samples fromudLambuya Village of Konawe District were not infected by TMV.
