This study aims to describe the forms of error in Japanese writings of students of Japanese Department, Hasanuddin University, elaborate the factors causing the errors, and describe the percentage of error.ududThe research was conducted at the Japanese Department, Hasanuddin University, Makassar by using case study method with the quantitative and the qualitative descriptive approaches. The samples were selected by using the purposive sampling method. They were students who had attendance percentage of 100% in the subject of Composition II.ududThe results reveal that two forms of errors are found in Japanese writings of the Japanese students. They are grammatical errors (morphological and syntax errors) and lexical error (vocabulary). The morphological errors include the omission errors and formation errors; while the syntax errors include addition errors, ordering errors, and formation errors. In terms of vocabulary errors, there are interference errors. This is due to several factors, including interference, lack of the recipient language ability, and lack of the Japanese dictions knowledge .
