Downlink/Uplink decoupling (DUDe) in LTE net-udworks has caught the attention of researchers as it providesudbetteruduplink SINR and reduced power consumption per device due touddecoupled connection of a device with the Macro (in downlinkud)udand a small cell (in uplink). These characteristics of DUDe cudanudbe exploited to encourage more D2D communications in theudnetwork. This paper first proposes a model to estimate decoupudlingudregion within which a device is allowed to perform DUDe. Thenud, udit formulates an equation to calculate the total power savedudby devices due to decoupling. Finally, the extra area due touddecoupling which can be used to enable D2D pairs is calculateudd.udSimulation results are shown based on different simulationudscenarios for different objectives for better understandiudng theudidea proposed.
