AbstractThis project is a case study of the wind turbine planning in Stevns Municipality focusing on public participation and social accept of wind turbines. Approaching public participation the communicative planning theory constitutes the theoretical framework. The insight in the process is achieved through expert interviews with two planners employed in Stevns Municipality and an employee at Vindmøllerejseholdet. Throughout an analysis of the interview material different problems are identified in the public participation. Knowledge about the opposition against wind turbines among the citizens in Stevns Municipality is i.a. collected through analysis of a part of the hearing statements submitted in the public debate phase. Taking departure in best practice experiences mainly from Frederikssund Municipality and Samsø Municipality the project results in specific solutions for a better public participation and thereby an increased implementation of wind turbines in Stevns Municipality in the future.
