This thesis examines integration and segregation processes of migrants and migrant societies inurban deprived and segregated neighbourhoods. The aim of the thesis is to gain more qualitativeknowledge of segregation and integration processes in order to discuss and evaluate the presentDanish and European integration strategies and policies. The thesis discusses the strategies,i.e. housing and labour market policies, at national, regional and local levels but the main focusis on the local level with participatory urban integration projects and collective, transformativeempowerment strategies. The analysis of the local projects surves to give an examination anddiscussion of how integration and segregation should be defined and if present migrant integrationstrategies can provide social, spatial and economical integration of migrants and migrant societies.If they can not provide integration of migrant and migrant groups, how can integration strategiesthen be designed and implemented in order to secure this integration
