A student-oriented teacher education approach in the TESL methods course : student teacher perceptions and implications for professional training and development

Pendidik guru amnya dan pendidikudguru Bahasa Inggeris khasnya diseru supaya mengamalkanudpendekatan pendidikan guru berpusatkan pelajar. Pendekatanudini berasaskan konsep pembelajaran mela~ui pengalaman diudsamping mengambil kira dan mengamalkan metodologi terkiniudyang sepatutnya ,diamalkan di sekolah-sekolah.ududThe professional preparation of teachers is one of theudmost important tasks for the future of a nation.udIn Malaysia English language teacher education is at audturning point. There have been and continue to be calls forudefforts towards more innovative and effectiveudimplementation of training procedures. Language teacherudeducators are being persuaded to use a more studentorientedudapproach based on the concept of experientialudlearning and one that is also in keeping with the currentudlanguage teaching methodology desired in schools. The useudof the traditional lecture mode is to be minimized. In itsudplace teacher educators are urged to employ, and therebyudexpose student teachers to, a variety of language teachinglearningudstrategies in the absence of a single best method.
