Tracking the growth and development of a new industry isud-- critical to the assessment of its success. Growers, industryud-- support groups, government leaders, educational and researchud-- organizations and more use basic statistics on crop production,ud-- markets, and growth over time to support and fund activitiesud-- that promote this industry. Annual statistics also provide anud-- indicator of industry health and can be used to develop modelsud-- of long-term trends in industry growth. Beginning in 2011,ud-- the University of Alaska Fairbanks Agricultural and Forestryud-- Experiment Station began compiling industry statistics. Weud-- summarize confidential grower information to provide baselineud-- data that the industry can use to obtain funding, make businessud-- decisions, and promote their industry.
