The aim of this research is to investigate: 1) whether there is a significantuddifference in reading skill between the students taught by using Team GameudTournament and the students taught by using Direct Instruction Method; and 2)udwhether TGT method more effective than DIM to teach reading skill to grade Xudstudent of SMA N SBBS Sragen.udThe research method used in this study is an experimental method. Thisudresearch was conducted at SMA Negeri Sragen Bilingual Boarding Schoolin theudAcademic Year of 2014/2015. The population in this research is the tenth gradeudstudents of SMA Negeri Sragen Bilingual Boarding School. The total number ofudpopulation is 60 students coming fromthree classes. The sampling method of theudresearch is claster random sampling. From the population, two classes were takenudrandomly as the sample. The samples are class X-B as experimental group whichudconsists of 20 students, and class X-A as the control group which consists of 20udstudents. The research instruments used to collect the data in this study is test. Theuddata were analyzed by using t-test formula.udThe computation of the data shows that: 1) there is a significant difference inudreading skill between the students taught by using Team Game Tournament and theudstudents taught by using Direct Instruction; and 2) the group taught by using TeamudGame Tournament has a better reading skill than the group taught by using DirectudInstruction Method.
