摘要

The aim of research is to determine how is the application of ContextualudTeaching Learning enhance the ability of nursing diagnosis, the elimination needs onudthe course of Basic Human Needs in under graduate Program of Nursing Studies atudMuhammadiyah University of Surabaya in fourth semester of the academic yearud2009/2010.udThe method used in this research is descriptive-qualitative from the results ofudClassroom Research Action (CAR) in the form of special treatment of the fourthudsemester using contextual learning. The subject of the research is 41 students fromudfourth semester of undergraduate Nursing Studies Program (S1) in academic yearud ud2009/2010, which contains ofud ud19 male and 22 female students. The research dataud udwas obtained during the the learning process, from students, lecturers, head of studyudprogram, academic affairs, campus community, observations, documents, archives,udand photos of activities. Through the stages of planning, execution, observation andudreflection, the research was conducted in two cycles.udThe results showed that learning using CTL method of learning materials inudnursing diagnosis elimination needs can improve the cognitive outcome of studentsudand it was proofed by the assessment test in each cycle. In the first cycle, the averageudmark of the students is 75.4, and the second cycle is 77.02 with a classical mastery onudthe first cycle of 87.8% and 95.2% for the second cycle. The implementation of CTLudalso enhanced the affective and psychomotor aspects, as shown from the assessmentudof affective and psychomotor. In the first cycle, the affective classical mastery isud92.6% and in the second cycle, a classical mastery is 100%, as well as onudpsychomotor aspects in the first cycle, that reaches a classical mastery of 73,2% andud87.8% of the second cycle. CTL implementation of 7 (seven) components based onudexisting standards in almost all components, showed a good fitness level with theudaverage compliance rate of 86.7%.udThe conclusion is contextual teaching learning with seven componentsud(constructivism, inquiry, questioning, learning community, modeling, reflection, andudauthentic assessment) can increase the ability of nursing students (cognitive, affectiveudand psychomotor).ududKeywords: CTL, nursing diagnosis, and elimination needs
