THE EFFECT OF USING DISCOVERY LEARNING THROUGH DEMONSTRATION METHOD AND DISCUSSION CONSIDERED FROM STUDENTS’ LEARNING MOTIVATION TO THE RESULT OF STUDETS’ LEARNING IN THE MATTER OF KINETIC GAS THEORY IN CLASS XI SCIENCE SMA NEGERI 1 NGEMPLAK BOYOLALI ACADEMIC YEAR 2014/2015. Thesis. Surakarta: Teaching Training and Education Faculty. Sebelas Maret University, October 2015. The aims of this research were to identify: (1) Effect between the use of discovery learning through demonstration method and discussion to the result of students’ learning in class XI Science SMA Negeri 1Ngemplak Boyolali, (2) Effect of students’ learning motivation in class XI Science SMA Negeri 1 Ngemplak Boyolali to the result of students’ learning, and (3) An interaction between the effect of using demonstration method and discussion with students’ learning motivation in the matter of Kinetic Gas Theory to students class XI Science SMA Negeri 1 Ngemplak Boyolali. The method in this research was used experiment 2x2 factorial design with different cells. The population of this research was students class XI Science SMAN 1 Ngemplak Boyolali Academic Year 2014/2015. The sample consisted of 2 classes, those were class XI Science 3 as control class and class XI Science 4 as experiment class that selected by cluster random sampling. The techniques of collecting data used were documentation technique, observation technique and test technique. Documentation technique was used to obtain value in the initial condition, that is middle semester even test value; observation technique was used to identify the students’ learning motivation with using observation sheet. Test technique was used to identify the result of cognitive learning. The data analysis consisted of data analysis in students’ initial condition with two- tailed test and the research hypothesis analysis used two-way variance with analysis test that should fulfill the requirement of normality test and homogenity test with standard significance 5%. The conclusions of this research are: (1) there was a difference effect between the use of discovery learning with demonstration method and discussion to the result of students’ learning in the matter of Kinetic Gas Theory, (2) there was an effect of students’ learning motivation to the result of students’ learning in the matter of Kinetic Gas Theory, and (3) there was no interaction between the effect of using demonstration method and discussion with students’ learning motivation in the matter of Kinetic Gas Theory.
