The purpose of this literature review is to examine organizational commitment in the workplace. Specifically, organizational commitment trends will be evaluated from two generations in the workplace: Baby Boomers and Generation X. It is important to understand the impact of employeesu27 views of commitment to adequately assess a broad range of human resource related issues. A review of related literature illustrates the components of organizational commitment and dominant theoretical concepts to understanding commitment in the workplace. In addition, a review of literature also will outline the characteristics of the Baby Boom and Generation X employees and their views about organizational commitment.
