Rapid nutrient evaluation of sorghum silages using two types of near-infrared reflectance spectroscopy

This research was designed to develop a setof prediction equations to measure nutrientcomposition of Kansas sorghum silages usingboth a portable and a research type near-infraredspectrometer (NIRS). A robust set ofequations for dry matter, crude protein, neutraldetergent fiber, and acid detergent fiber wasdeveloped for a wide range of sorghumphenotypes . NIRS analysis of sorghum silagesis feasible with both a tilting filter (portable) andresearch instrument with a grating monochrometer.
