A gestão das tecnologias da informação: um estudo em bibliotecas universitárias de Naviraí - MS

Considering that information technology, providing knowledge on the network, provide us tools that extend the communication and access to the produced knowledge, this work aims to analyze the importance of technology in information services, particularly in university libraries, questioning about its management in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul, more specifically in the city of Naviraí. This analysis relevance is present through the professional experience and the theoretical research of literature produced on the subject, which shows the paradigm changes in information services when considers that technology is an integral part of the professional librarian. Thus, according to our analysis, we observed that Information Technology brings profound changes to the work of the librarian professional regarding to the procedures and information services developed by him/her at the information unit. So the librarian must take a pro –active posture in the acquisition and application of new knowledge, aiming to supply the informational needs of its users. What leads us to believe that Information Technology is vital in the context in which we operate, the Information Society.
