GHT is a scientific society for archiving and documenting all items of early sound production. It is an international nonprofit organization founded in Vienna, Austria, in 2002. The principle aim of GHT is the protection of early sound documents (cylinders, shellacs), in order to conserve early sound carrier's dates and contents. Results of these sound documentations and researches will be digitized for public access in the internet. (www.phonomuseum.at; www.dismarc.org). The Website of GHT offers information on all items of our special research-field. In addition an interactive archive for record history is available www.phonomuseum.at/labellexikon GHT is running an archive including about 20 000 shellac records, 400 cylinders and a secondary-literature library in Vienna. The archive is consisting of different donations, which are archived in their original closeness. The Alfred Seiser Collection is the biggest collection, donated in 2002. Digitization of sounds and labels is one of the main targets in GHT's work. „GHT Base“ is an archiving database specialized on the needs of the archiving of records. It is important to accentuate the special needs in archiving and digitizing of records. Label and mirror of records tell us a lot of Information and it is evident that a record is more than only its content in the groove.
