The paper presents the author’s vision of the future of e-publications and libraries in scientific communication in view of Open Access initiative. Traditional publications will be increasingly digitized. Advantages of electronic medium will be widely used. Libraries now are in transition from collection-based institutions to centers of information, however, their role of collecting and storing e-publications should not be diminished. The highest value of libraries will be highly qualified librarians rather than collections. Their main role will be to add value to raw data through professional assessment of sources and selection for specific subjects so that data become information and can be easily transformed to knowledge. It is high time to invest in people rather than in technologies as in fact the central part of the cyber library will be librarians. The value of cyber resources will be higher when complemented with intellectual processes and services.
