The book is the study of informatization of Russian and the U.S. academic libraries. Issues such as terminology and evolution of library informatization are analyzed; periods of informatization of academic libraries are defined; Russian higher school libraries are compared with the U.S. academic libraries. Tables and diagrams that present key-points of the book are enclosed. The monograph is based on an array of sources as well as on the author’s experience gained while her working in both Russian and American academic libraries. The book is supposed to be used by scholars in the field of library science, librarians and students of library schools.
