摘要

Leishmaniasis is an endemic disease with wide distribution in tropical and subtropical regions around the world. It is considered that the incidence of this infection would be increased due to the progressive urbanization process which consequence is the increment of the human exposition to vector bite. Currently, in endemic countries included Ecuador the treatment of choice against leishmaniasis is the intramuscular application of amoniacal compounds. However, this treatment is associated with poor compliance due to the requirement of multiple applications of medicine, toxicity and parasite resistance.
