Fotovaporización selectiva de laser verde KTP 120: revisión de los primeros 225 casos realizados en el Hospital Metropolitano de Quito, período noviembre 2008 - diciembre 2009

We describe and analyze a safe technique for Green KTP 120 Laser photoselective vaporization prostatectomy.This research is a descriptive case-control study where KTP Laser photoselective vaporization prostatectomy is done in 225 patients. The following technique has been chosen: with the patient under anesthesia in dorsal lithotomy position, cystoscopy is performed. Using a high power KTP 120 laser system, a groove is created along the lateral-median lobe junction from the bladder neck to the verumontanum to delineate the margins of vaporization. A Foley catheter is placed at the conclusion of the procedure. At the end 128 patients were excluded for different reasons for the follow up. 97 patients were included for the follow up until the first month after the procedure.
