Evaluación de medidas de remediación aplicadas en suelos contaminados con hidrocarburos caso de estudio: área de entrenamiento de extinción de incendios

All human activities produce direct or indirect impacts to the environment, in the case of the firefighters training areas or fire simulators, commonly used by the Firefighter´s Department, the impacts due to this activity are both direct and indirect. The purpose of this research is to analyze the remediation measures implemented at a Fire Simulator impacted during years due to training activities in which fuel were used, and that as a consequence of bad fuel management during the training exercise the contaminated areas became environmental liabilities requiring the implementation of environmental remediation measures.The existing information was analyzed and with the use of Geografic Information Systems the volume of impacted soil was calculated as well as a strategy developed for the intervention of the contaminated areas by quadrants. Finally, the remediation activities conducted by the former operator of the site were compared with the remediation activities proposed as a result of this work, with the purpose of measuring the efficiency of the remediation of contaminated soils conducted at the site.
