La educación social como solución efectiva para la erradicación del trabajo infantil en el Ecuador

Child labor in Ecuador is a consequence of the poverty that the country faces. Since 2006, the International Labour Organization (ILO) has put in practice a project to eradicate Child Labour in the world and since then many entities, organizations and people have created projects towards accomplishing this goal. In Ecuador, the majority of child labor is founded in agriculture, in places where this issue is seen with normality. We have created a society where seeing kids working is taken as common situation and this is the result of the huge necessity that families facing poverty live. Due to their situation they are forced to make all members of the family work because the kids that work help with approximately 10% of the family income. Education is the starting point towards a real change. Organizations and entities such as UNICEF, the Ministry of Labor Relations and the ILO have joined forces and are working in projects that are helping this situation. There are many obstacles that exist towards the triumph of the project due to the reality we live in and the work that needs to get done in the public, private and political ambits. The projects aim to promote a new working culture, a better situation for the parents of this kids and giving the opportunity to the children of Ecuador to have the education they need and enjoy their childhood.
