摘要

This project develops a methodology for competitive benchmarking using statistical analysis. One product manufactured by the firm Familia Sancela, which is compared to a similar product from a competitor, is used for developing such methodology. A Pareto chart is elaborated to select the product using the following criteria: high profit contribution, possibility of product adjustment, and locally manufacturing. Afterwards, target population to which the product will be addressed is chosen. Product characteristics important to consumers is researched by means of personal interviews. Statistical technique known as Conjoint Analysis is applied in order to find relative importance of product attributes using multiple regression. Measurement of critical variables for the two selected products is performed as well as hypothesis testing to identify statistical difference in variables. One of the statistically significant variables is selected for product improvement. An experimental design model to identify significant factors on the output variable is used, hence critical quality variable is improved. Finally, improved prototypes are manufactured for consumer testing and verification of consumer perception on improvement against competition is carried out.
